The latest Passagemaker Lite is a 75’ round-bottom aluminum ship. She is a development of the PL74, but with single engine, twin skegged rudders, and better accommodation.

Like the 74 she retains the aft deck storage for a large shore boat (16’ by 7’6”), and the huge garage with swim-step access, but the pilothouse has been raised to allow the owner’s cabin to move aft on the lower level. This allows space for a big “kids” sleeping and day cabin directly forward of the pilothouse, and a VIP stateroom in the bow. So we have three separate sleeping cabins, all full width of the vessel.

Day living is on the main deck, with large raised dinette in the pilothouse area, with galley next aft, and a saloon area opening onto the aft deck. There are ladders inside and out (aft deck) to the flying bridge which has a fixed hard top and room for additional small craft aft.

There is nothing new to the idea of thin, light, seaworthy, and fast powerboats, and Tad Roberts has been inspired by several of those of the past. To Roberts, these boats brought to mind a glaring question: Why didn't the whole world flock to these sensible and efficient pleasure powerboat designs? He answered that question by identifying the elements that limited the type, and, in his Lite designs, addressed them. All in all, the Passagemaker Lite series is masterful work.
