Designer's Comments

The Greg Pont 44 Express Cruiser, a custom design for Greg Pont Marine, Port Stephens, Australia, is a continuation of the warped-vee hull I first developed in 1988 for the 33’ high-speed sportfisherman Dixie, built by Hodgdon Yachts. While the general form was influenced by express cruisers designed by William Garden, I used straight sections aft becoming convex in the forefoot, and a relatively wide, full length, horizontal chine flat. This is the same form used in the Hinckley Picnic Boats and our newest Enavigo 39 hull. Further refinements include the use of propeller pockets and full depth skegs to reduce draft and increase propeller protection.

Construction: Fibreglass-sheathed cold-molded hull. All framing is laminated. 25 mm red cedar strip planking sheathed inside and out with fibreglass set in epoxy
