Auxillary Sails Added to Ocean 55

55' steel fuel-efficient sail-assisted ocean-going motor yacht. Fuel tankage of 1700 usg will allow a cruising range approaching 5000 miles at 7 knots. The 2006 commission was updated recently with a 833 sq ft ketch sailing rig to provide added fuel savings, increased range, and roll stabilization without the underwater drag of fins or paravanes. The sails are individually small and easily handled, and the vertical clearance is still less than 50’ for Intracoastal Waterway travel.

Overview: Recent Refit and Rebuild Projects

The major part of my work in refit projects is oversight, or advising on how and where work is to proceed. As well as on-site consulting, this usually involves outlining the project's scope and schedule, preparing written specifications for materials, parts and equipment, and time, labour, and costs estimates.

I advise on and produce as needed technical drawings for replacing or upgrading systems and equipment, including the reduction of noise and vibration, re-design of masts and stabalizer systems, as well as exterior or interior alterations and arrangements, including concept sketches and working drawings.
